What is a RC?

An RC supports one teacher and classroom by organizing communication, volunteers, and classroom activities.  

  Responsibilities may include: 

• Communicate classroom needs and volunteer opportunities to parents.
• Organize classroom volunteers for parties, special events, and field trips.
• Coordinate donations of supplies, snacks, or materials requested by the teacher.
• Assist with planning the winter celebration and teacher/birthday appreciation activities.
• Help welcome new families to the classroom community

Example: Your child's homeroom teacher is planning a special science experiment but needs specific supplies, the RC would handle all communication to the parents to  ensure all needed supplies are available.

What is a GLC?

A GLC supports an entire grade level and serves as a resource for the individual RCs within that grade. 

Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting and guiding Room Coordinators
• Coordinating grade-level events and activities
• Winter party - managing budget and ensuring movement for decision making & action items in the planning process 
• Ensuring consistent communication across classrooms
• Partnering with teachers and the PTA to meet grade-level needs
• Working with the Room Coordinator Chair to ensure forms and procedures are properly filled out

Example: A 3rd teacher has an upcoming birthday, however because this teacher supports all 3rd grade students the GLC would ensure the birthday celebration email is delivered to all students this specific teacher serves versus just their homeroom.

RC's and GLC's play an important role in building a strong school community. By helping organize volunteers, support teachers, and keep families informed, they help make our school a welcoming and engaging place for all students.
