Hey there, lovely Green families!
I don't know about what's happening at your house, but this week is jam-packed with GOOD STUFF at our house, which means it's jam-packed at Green too! Let's take a look at what's going on around the school this week.
First, we are absolutely blown away by the donations for our raffle baskets and we can't wait for you to see them. In case you missed it, we are raffling off baskets for Green Elementary's contribution to the district-wide Love Week Initiative. This year's recipient is the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County. While we have no input into the recipients chosen each year, I am thrilled with this partnership. I am a survivor of childhood abuse and have worked closely with the center over the years. They do amazing work for children (and parents) in our community and I am beyond excited that Green gets to participate in the effort to support them.
We have just announced all of our grade-level baskets on our Facebook Pages and our Instagram. You can purchase a raffle ticket for $5 here. You can purchase as many raffle tickets as you like and are not limited to the baskets you donated to! We will close the raffle ticket purchases on Tuesday at midnight and draw the winners on Wednesday morning.
In conjunction with Love Week, we are hosting our first “Diversity and Game Night Event” tomorrow (Thursday) night. We are thrilled to bring you a sampling of local cuisines from across the world this Thursday, February 16th. This event is FREE to you with appetizer-type food provided courtesy of the PTA. PLEASE SIGN UP HERE IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND so we can have an accurate headcount for food. There will be a brief PTA Meeting at the top of the night. All of the gift baskets will be on display along with a few families that will be showcasing their heritage from our multi-cultural day tomorrow.
If you are available to volunteer tomorrow night at the Diversity and Game Night for one shift, please sign up here! We are in desperate need of volunteers to make this night happen!
Smencils are available for purchase this week. Each year, the 6th grade students (and parents) sell Smencils (smelly pencils) to raise funds for our 6th Grade Celebration. These are always a big hit and will be set up outside the library tomorrow and Friday during lunch, and our Diversity Night Event.
Student after-school workouts to prep for the Eagle Run are this Thursday with Coach Sanford, Mrs. Butler, and Mrs. Slaton. There will be a weekly challenge for the students at these workouts, and the winner will receive a SONIC GIFT CARD!! ***Registration is required to attend. SIGN UP FOR WORKOUTS HERE.***
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE PTA BOARD? Nominations for the 2023-2024 Green Elementary PTA Executive Board are now open. Please click here to nominate yourself or someone you think would be AWESOME for the job!
As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns. We have an awesome group of families at Green, and we are continually blown away by your support of the PTA, our teachers, and our Green Community. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!
